The Character Links System
Character Links is an academic solution to character building that links academic standards to character based activities to real life situations.
Character Links is a research-based program, proven to be effective and establishes a framework that connects Principal - Teacher - Student and Home. It consists of three main components: The Principal Link, The Teacher Link and the Home Link.
1.
The Principal Link: Standards-Based "Minute Messages" set daily expectations
The Principal Link is in The Principal's Principles, which contains short "morning messages" designed to be read of the public broadcast system.
The principal begins each day reading a "morning message" focused on a the week's Positive Behavior character quality. Each weekly topic contains 5 academic "minute messages" to provide a positive point of reference for the day and promote higher order thinking.
2. The Teacher Link: Standards-Based Lessons that support Positive Behavior
Each Teacher Link contains five brief lessons that provide positive behavior support written in the context of academics.
The teacher presents a short, skill-based lesson focused on the weekly Positive Behavior character quality. Each concise lesson is grade specific and is easily integrated into the curriculum.
3. The Home Link: Stimulating Activities for Parents
The Home Link provides 5 corresponding activities for family involvement. (26 copies are provided - no duplication necessary)
Students receive a weekly take-home activity page that supports the Positive Behavior character trait. Each weekly Home Link contains 5 daily activities designed to activate and engage family support.
