Character

Grade 2

Definition: CHARACTER refers to qualities, attitudes, and actions that reflect what a person really believes. CHARACTER is what a person is on the inside.

Lesson  Review the definition of CHARACTER. Remind children that how they act shows their character. Write the heading Good Character on the board or on a chart. Talk about words that describe someone with good character. (Examples include: good, kind, nice, honest, trusting, happy, etc.) Ask students to raise their hand if they know someone who has good character. If time allows, continue the discussion by having students name people they know who have good character.

School/Home Link   Ask students to describe a person of good character to a family member and have them name someone who has good character.
