Sample Lesson for "Caring" from the Character Links Program. This Grade 1 lesson for Caring is part of the CLS program to promote good character traits through character education.

Caring

Grade 1

 

Definition: CARING means being supportive and responsive to the needs of others with kindness and compassion.

 

Lesson 1 Read the definition of CARING. Emphasize that a caring person is a person who is kind. Ask students to think of words that may describe someone who is caring. (Examples include: gentle, nice, considerate, good, etc.) Write student responses on the board. Call on two or three students to choose a word from the list and use it in an oral sentence. Remind students to speak clearly. Keep the list visible for several days.


School/Home Link Ask students to discuss with a family member how they can be a caring person at school.
