Acceptance

Kindergarten Lesson

Definition: ACCEPTANCE means respecting the differences among people. Because people are different in so many ways, it is important to be accepting of others.

Lesson  Review the meaning of ACCEPTANCE. Invite 2-3 students to describe themselves. Lead a discussion on how each child is different from the other. Create a class list of differences between students.  Examples could include: different eye color, hair, skin tone, height, weight, gender, etc.  Explain that classmates, neighbors and friends are alike in many ways; but they are also different in many ways.  Ask students to repeat this sentence after you.  Even though we are different in many ways, we can all be friends.

School/Home Link   Tell students to ask a family member to describe ways that their family members are different from each other.
